I listen to the serenade of a lonely Protestant. I see a woman from working class. She takes a lamp, because it is already a murky, dark evening. However, she forges her close bond with the Good Spirit. But the world counts her as nobody.
But Wisdom calls her by her name and it is called Common Sense. That is why she faithfully walks hand in hand with God. Against Lucifer and hell she stands sealed, strong resistant. With her loyalty only to volk and Fatherland, it is her lamp that burns so brightly for the benefit of her kind.
I see a woman, a heaven-informant. Therefore she stands as a truth-consultant. Once she stood there as a virgin, delicate, small and piquant. But for a long time no longer so withdrawn aside. Now she stands there so strongly impudent, openly pronounced and cheeky.
She scolds her people as stupid, passive, so dormant. Yes, who will soon burn their fingers badly due to a lack of cash. She stands up to the big lie and fights tooth and nail. She mockingly calls the worldling Satan’s henchman. With a woe, oh, woe, she pointed her finger at Holland. This, while she cries: Oh, Ireland, where was your mind too?
She stamps her foot and says: Every continent is going to burn properly. She sings: Across the seven seas the merchant and warships lie sunk and stranded. So, why, O Babylon, do you weep now so alone and cast aside? I see a woman and another woman. With Jerusalem and Sion both as heaven- debutants. Each takes in her hand, her lamp that burns brightly. Look it is already late in this murky dark night. But their light shines bright and hopeful in all directions.
